Chinese lion dance originated from the "North Lion". It is said that in Northern Wei (386-534 A.D.), Emperor Wudi expeditioned to Hexi, Gansu Province, capturing as many as 100,000 Hu people. Emperor Wu of Wei ordered Hu people to dance for entertainment. The Hu people carved the animal head with wood, two or five small, wearing animal clothes, collecting eight music, and more than thirty warriors, dancing in front of the imperial court. Wu Dilong was very happy and gave the name "Northern Wei Rui Lion" and was authorised to take him back to China. Lion dance spread in the north, and later became known as "North Lion".

At present, we are based on the Qinghai lion in Anhui.

The basic movements of the Northern Lion dance method are: stunned, afraid, happy, crawling, squatting, retreating, rolling, etc., with the gentle, lively, dextrous, elegant, pleasant and light walking methods to dance the lion perfectly. Its eyes, mouth and ears will start. This technology focusses on扑bbling, falling, turning, rolling, jumping, scratching and other movements.

Cooperate with the agile and vigourous body of the samurai (that is, the so-called master) to show the courage and courage of the lion, and vividly depict the wit and humour of the warrior, giving people a kind of wonderful and exciting enjoyment.

Through the skilful improvement of martial artists, the lion in lion dance is no longer a fierce wild beast, but a kind, lovely and tame livestock, sometimes acting like a deep-world, calm old man, sometimes acting like an innocent and naughty child, often having a lovely personality. This is a northern lion. Characteristics of dance.

The shape of the northern lion and the cool zodiac of the real lion are not only as large as the southern lion, but also the head is not colourfully decorated with the southern lion. It is purely the colour of animal hair, but its top is added with a unique horn to show different ordinary animals. The trousers and shoes worn by the performers are the same colour as the real lion's legs, so dancing is a vivid moveable lion, giving people a real feeling.

When performing a northern lion, there are three dancers, one dances the front body of the lion (i.e. the lion's head), one dancers the back of the lion (i.e. the lion's tail), and the other plays a warrior, leading the dance.

The dance posture of the northern lion is mainly in the kind and dextrous performance, rolling and jumping, the beginning and end of the same side, and the pace is neatly integrated. In addition, the music beats such as Beijing, Beijing gongs and drums are filled with the music, dancing according to the sound of the music, and the guide dance is full of the ball, showing the majestic posture of the warrior, slowly holding the ball to guide the lion, and the lion head dancers not only follows the ball warriors. In addition to the various dance moves, the lion tail dancer must also be fully tacit, and the lion tail dancer must also pay attention to the movement of the lion's head, the head and tail must also move, and the head and tail must also be fixed, jumping and rolling, closely following, so that the head and tail dancers can be coordinated and integrated to ride the dance skills.

Legend has it that Emperor Wudi of Northern Wei travelled to Hexi, Gansu Province, and captured as many as 100,000 Hu people. Emperor Wu of Wei imprisoned them for three years. One day, Emperor Wu of Wei toured the restricted area, and would set up a banquet and let the Hu people dance and entertain them. The Hu people carved the animal head with wood, two or five small, wearing animal clothes, collecting eight music, and more than thirty warriors, dancing in front of the imperial court. Emperor Wu was amazed by the dancer's cheerfulness or low-Prime Minister's pity and wonderful dance skills. Emperor Wudi summoned Hu people and asked about his dancing. Hu people replied, "Northern Wei Dynasty pilgrimage, four squares of Fu, Xiliang Lebuki, together with imperial kindness." Emperor Wudi listened to the great pleasure of the dragon, gave the name Northern Wei Ruishi, and accepted the prisoner back to China. Since then, lion dance has spread in the north, so it is known as the northern lion.

Legend has it that the lion is one of the nine sons of Tianlong and is good at guarding the door. Therefore, since the Qin and Han dynasties, a pair of stone lions have been erected in front of the first gate of the palace to protect the house.
