Elephant God (Sanskrit: Quakrit), transliterated Gönnesse; Sanskrit Latin transliteration: Gaṇeśa; Ganesh, meaning group master) is the god of wisdom in Hinduism, the son of Shiva and Parvati, the daughter of the snow mountain god, and the brother of Jianto, the god of war. Because the elephant god is responsible for leading the people of Gaṇa (a group of small gods who serve Shiva and like to be funny), he is also known as the lord of the group (gaṇapati, meaning the lord of Gana). He looks like an elephant head who breaks an ivory and has four arms, either red or yellow, and a rode for an elephant god. In various sculptures, he usually sits on or curls up one of the knees.
